Monumental Day!

Griffey had his first haircut today! He looks so handsome and grown up now.

Getting him to sit still was a battle though.  He was so excited to be in the awesome jeep chair until the lady came over and wrapped the cape around him.  We even gave him a sucker, but he just held it and cried the whole time.

He's happy now and he finally ate his sucker.

Allergies

Allergy season is here, which means I will be in pain and misery for a few solid months. How bad are my allergies? Oh, no, I do not get allergies. Adam does. He gets allergies enough for all of us.

Besides not being able to have picnics on the grass in the park and thinking beautiful blossoming cherry and cotton trees are evil, it's the snoring. We deal with the snoring.

For a good two months, I have to wear my usual adam's-snoring-year-round ear plugs, plus put a pillow on my head, put a blanket on top of the pillow, make sure the industrial fan is on high, and sleep with my head at the foot of the bed. Yeah, I sleep by his feet. It's that bad.

He's tried eating local honey, taking all the medicines, using the breat-right strips, and pretty much everything else. It's just going to stay this way and I have learned to deal with it. It can't get worse. Can it?

Oh wait. Griffey had a running nose today. I have two snoring Adams now.

Want to Make Yourself Go Insane?

…Try deep cleaning an entire bathroom with paper towels. I mean shower, toilet, floor, everything.

We are officially moved out of our wonderful apartment and into Adam's dad's house. We are trying to save some money because we are both diving into Grad school soon. It was bittersweet to move out.

I spent six hours on Saturday cleaning the apartment in hopes of getting our deposit back. Gateway Village left me traumatized so I cleaned our Crescent Park Apartment like nobody's business. Two nasty sponges and 4 dissolved Magic Erasers later, and I was left with the last bathroom and nothing but paper towels. That was not fun. Luckily Adam brought me Taco Bell to help me endure. Haha.

Seriously though, this time of our lives is definitely an adjustment time. While we are very grateful to be saving money and have family to rely when we need help, we have definitely made sacrifices and been placed outside our comfort zone. It will take some getting used to but I know that we will have our own place someday and we will appreciate it more if we have to make sacrifices to get there.

The moral of the story is, moving sucks but it's not the end of the world and magic erasers really are magic, but buy enough.

Back to Our Parents’ House

Well, long story short… our apartment complex raised the rent while cutting out amenities so it isn't worth it to live here anymore. We are both starting grad school very soon and neither of us are working because of our school work loads, so all our rent money comes from financial aid and savings. It has come to the point where we don't want to waste that much money on living here, so we are out. In 16 days.

We are moving in with Adam's dad, Steve, and his wife Laurel. Fortunately, they are willing to let us live in their downstairs for a while to save up money and not have to stress about rent for a little while. The plan is to stay there through summer and then look for some cheaper apartments or campus housing in the fall.

While it is very calming and comforting to know that we have somewhere to go in times like this, I am very much mourning the loss of our own space. I feel like I just moved us in here and got everything set up how I liked it. Griffey is comfortable here. We are close to everything here. Plus, I am secretly scared to leave this area of town. This is where I have been since middle school, so I am partial to it.

Side note—did you know that boxes from U-Haul are around $2 each?? That's crazy! We are packing with trash bags and used boxes from craigslist.

So, garage sale tomorrow, moving this weekend, half a month to clean our apartment to get our deposit back.

P.S: I love being married to Adam because he is so weird. I just found that mariners picture saved on the computer.
